How to Setup a Wireless Modem for IrDA

If you are using Windows2000/XP: Before you create a new modem you need install the software “IrCOMM2k” You can download it from http://www.ircomm2k.de/ Next select a virtual COM port for IrDA and press OK to install “IrCOMM2k” Now you have a new COM port for wireless modem use IrDA In the following step we set a new modem and network like using serial cable 1. Go to “Start > Control Panel > Wireless Link” 2. Go to “Image Transfer” Tab. Uncheck “Use Wireless Link to transfer images from a digital camera to your computer.” 3. Go to “Start > Setting > Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options”. 4. Select “Modems” Tab. Click “Add…” to add a new Modem 5. Enable checkbox and press “Next” 6. Select “Standard 33600 bps Modem” and press “Next” 7. Select the virtual COM port you just create and press ”Next” 8. Press “Finish” 9. Go to “Phone And Modem Options” in Control Panel. Select “Modem” Tab. Select your virtual modem and Press “Properties” 10. Select “Advanced” page , insert “AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet","",0,0” Replace the word “internet” with your APN of the connection. 11. Start > Setting > Control Panel > Network and Dial-up Connections > Make New Connection 12. Press “Next” 13. Select “Dial-up to the Internet” and press “Next” 14. Select “I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)” and press “Next” 15. Select “I connect through a phone line and a modem” and press “Next” 16. Select the Virtual Modem. 17. Uncheck the “Use area code and dialing rules” and insert telephone number “*99#” and press “Next”. 18. Type your user name and password of your connection. If no user name and password just leave it blank 19. Type the connection name, for example: “O2 XdaII Modem Connection” 20. Select “No” and press “Next” 21. Press “Finish” 22. Go to “Start > Setting > Control Panel > network and Dial-up Connections” 23. Select the connection created. Right click and then select “Properties” 24. Select General tab. Ensure that ONLY the Virtual COM Modem is checked. Highlight that modem and click “Configure…” 25. Uncheck the “Enable hardware flow control”, “Enable modem error control”, “enable modem compression” and “Enable modem speaker”. Click “OK” to save. 26. Select “Networking” Tab. Highlight the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click “Properties” 27. Click “Advanced…” Uncheck the “Use IP Header compression” Getting Started : 1. Disable desktop ActiveSync COM port connect 2. On XdaII: Start > Settings > Connections > Beam > Disable “Receive all incoming beams” 3. XdaII with GPRS SIM card 4. Tap XdaII Start > programs > Wireless Modem 5. Select your connection type to “IrDA”. Press button “Start” and align the IrDA port with your PC and XdaII 6. In desktop: Start > Setting > Control Panel > Network and Dial-up Connections 7. Select your new connection name and press “Dial” 8. You can use your XdaII as the modem now. Press “Stop” in the wireless modem in XdaII and the connection will be disconnected
